Sati, or mindfulness, is a direct awareness of what is happening now. Meditation can begin with breathing, posture, or feeling, without demanding that the mind become calm on command.

Meditation is connected with ethical conduct and wisdom. As awareness grows, there may be more room to choose speech and action carefully, and to pause before reacting.

Beginners can set aside a short, regular time, return to the breath when attention wanders, and practice patiently. Consistency matters more than making each session feel special.
